  • Directory Information Base: Set or all the directory entries in an LDAP service.

  • Each record is unequivocally designated by a sequence of attributes (Relative Distinguished Name), so it can be searched.

  • Directory Information Tree: Graf of nomes of a directory if served by LDAP, each node represents a directory entry.

Search Example

search(‘‘(C=NL)(O=VU University)(OU=*)(CN=Main server)’’)

Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Implements LDAP + extensions.

  • Forest of LDAP domains.

    • Index by Global Catalog.

    • The root of an LDAP tree is the domain controller.

      • Published in DNS with appropriate SRV record.
